In the Drawing|Painting|Printmaking II: Explorations in 2-D Art Methods course students expand their visual communications capacities, hone their knowledge and experience of 2-dimensional art materials/methods, and continue to practice creative habits that will serve them in all aspects of their lives. This course is designed to build on the strong theoretical framework and practical skills developed in the Foundations of Art & Design course. Students apply those same concepts & skills to working with a wide variety of materials including: pen & ink, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, acrylic paint, mixed media, and printmaking methods. A major goal for this course is experimentation, with materials and methods. Sketchbooks are an essential tool in this endeavor and students are required to work in theirs regularly. In sketchbooks students practice creative habits – constantly noting inspirations; pondering and manipulating ideas; experimenting with materials; and documenting their world. Written reflections reinforce this thoughtful process.
